Located just southeast of Colorado Springs, Security-Widefield is suburban community at the base of the Rocky Mountains. A view of Pikes Peak and a short drive from the Garden of the Gods make this area ideal for the outdoor and nature lover. It is accessible by major highways and the Colorado Springs Airport.

Security and Widefield are two towns joined into one community as a census-designated area. It is notable for the S.A. Wilson Elementary School, which was added to the National Historic Register in 2017 for its classic mid-century architecture by Francis & Guy in the early 1950s.

It has a small-town feel with access to big city conveniences, plus all the attractions of Colorado Springs. Visit Widefield Park, which locals say is a favorite and very well maintained. It is also, sadly, the site of the 1991 United Airlines crash that killed all 25 people on board and resulted in an investigation into one of Boeing’s aircrafts. A memorial stands at the park in honor of the victims.

This is also the hometown of Lorraine! She grew up here and can help you find the perfect place to call home in the cozy community.
